New Tea Garden Set to Open in Mississippi

0

The Charleston, SC tea plantation will soon no longer be the only kid on the block. A new tea garden is slated to be developed in Lincoln County, Mississippi, by the family who runs the Great Mississippi Tea Company. Jason McDonald, who’s family has owned the land since the 1800’s, was trying to find a crop that would not be destroyed by the many hurricanes endured by the southeastern United States. Tea seemed to be the perfect answer, and after visiting the Charleston plantation, his idea solidified into a definitive plan.

It will be a few years before the tea plucking can commence, but once it’s produced, it will be a high-end tea to savor. America’s growing tea culture may not have the history of tea plantations overseas, but it’s still exciting to watch it all unfold.
