Blueberry and Green Tea Smoothie

June is beginning to feel very blue. Why? It’s blueberry season, of course! These antioxidant-rich berries will soon be readily available wherever you go, whether it’s the grocery store or your own backyard. We’re paying homage to this juicy little fruit with a refreshing and healthy smoothie. It also has the added benefit of green tea! So whip out those blenders, and make your family a treat they’re sure to love!

Ingredients:

3/4 cup water
2 green tea bags (brew tea the night before to save time in the morning)
2 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
3 ice cubes
12 ounces non-fat vanilla yogurt
2 tablespoons almonds, whole dry-roasted, unsalted (about 20)
2 tablespoons flax seeds, ground

Directions:

1. Bring water to a boil and pour over tea bags.
2. Steep 4 minutes.
3. Squeeze and remove tea bags and discard.
4. Chill tea overnight.
5. If using fresh blueberries, place in freezer overnight.
6. Place tea, blueberries, ice, yogurt, almonds, and flax seed in blender.
7. Process until smooth.
